Control yourself...

You and your horse are a team of athletes. Good performance can only be achieved if you both work together, moving in balance and coordination. That is why you invest in the welfare, tack and training of your horse. But what about your core stability, balance and muscle strength?

Poor performance is not always caused by the horse or by a poorly fitingt. The rider can also be a part of the problem. Find the cause of your riding issues and restore the balance between you and your horse.

Rider-analyses, flexchair-training and core stability can help you break old patterns, improving your performance.

Control yourself...

To sit or not to sit...

Before you can control your horse, you have to be able to control yourself. This means that a rider has to be able to sit in balance without using excessive muscle tension. A well balanced rider results in a well-balanced horse. Do you recognize following problems? If so, physiotherapy can help.

  • Trouble sitting still
  • Trouble sitting up
  • Chair seat
  • Bridle lameness
  • Heavy on the bit
  • Trouble with flying changes

  • Your horse has ongoing back pain
  • Your horse does not listen to your aids
  • Your saddle slips to one side
  • Your back hurts after ridding
  • Your muscles are sore
  • Loss of coordination

" Become aware of the unaware aids you give your horse. "

Knowledge is the key to success

Good riding starts with good sitting. Become aware of your posture and balance whilst mounted with the use of the rider-analysis software and the flexchair biofeedback system. By ‘seeing’ what you are doing you can achieve a better understanding of your own body control and improve your riding technique.

Success is not a coincidence. You are taking lessons and you are working hard on improving your riding technique. Measure your improvement by using objective assessment and training tools such as the Flexchair and rider-analysis with Equiphys.

Joëlle analysis your riding technique by using slow motion video images and the Quintic biomechanics software.

How does it work?
Rider and horse are wearing markers on anatomical key points and carry out a series of movements, such as center lines from both the left and right rein. The high speed video files are being analyzed - riders can see their position whilst mounted. Key areas on which to work on are selected. A personalized training program is set up.

TIP: Combine the rider-analysis with the Flexchair training. Do you wish to know more? Have the effect of your seat measured with the Novel pliance saddle pressure system.

The flechair is a real eye opener. The Flexchair is specially designed to assess and analyze the effectiveness of your seat. It is also a fitness tool and it helps you to increase your core stability, balance and coordination.

Due to visual feedback it teaches you where your center of balance is. A set of exercises will test the mobility and coordination of your lower back and pelvis. Your results are stored and improvement of your core and balance can be measured. A tailored training program is set up.

The Flexchair is a special chair with 2 different three dimensional movement mechanisms. A sensor in the chair is linked to a biofeedback software system. A set of exercises are performed on the chair. You can see the instant results of the quality of your movement on the computer screen. Coordination problems, core stability problems or imbalances become evident. You become aware of your body, posture and movement. Your results are stored in a database to assess your progress in the future.

  • " I am a Belgian dressage rider and member of the Belgian Young Riders dressage team. My trainer is the Belgian top dressage rider Jeroen Devroe. Joёlle is regularly taking care of our successful horses. For the last few years I have been selected for the European Youth Championships together with Noémi Goris and Mieke Mommen also stabled at Jeroen Devroe`s yard. We all have had top results winning gold, silver and bronze medals at the Belgian Championships. Dressage is about the complete picture. Joёlle has been an important part of that team helping our horses to compete at top level. The horses benefit from her treatments. At the Europeans in Broholm I even received the `Classical Style award` among other things because of my horse looking like a happy athlete. "

  • " I almost gave up on finding a devoted, highly skilled professional with the welfare of my horses at heart, and not handling only in the pursuit of money like a lot of so called ‘therapists’. But then, some years ago, I was introduced to Joёlle and since our first conversation Joёlle has made me more conscious about teaching and training in a way that I could never have hoped for. The hard labour she sometimes does on the horses and riders is priceless. She's the no-nonsense type! Listen to her advice and accept your own and your horses' weaknesses and you will be gratefully rewarded! "
